Education

My overarching research interests: adolescent literacies, identity, and out of school time (OST), with a focus on opportunity gaps and the deficit labeling of multi-abilitied and raciolinguistically, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse students.

I believe that it is important for teachers and teacher educators to be aware of our multiple positionalities, beliefs, and assumptions, when thinking, doing, and talking pedagogy (pedagogic habitus), which ultimately affects our abilities to make positive contributions to adolescents’ lives through in and out of school time literacies and identities.
