Cultural Trauma and the African American Community

The African American community has experienced ongoing trauma as the result of our tragic, storied past as a marginalized group in America. This trauma has permeated our existence as citizens of a country whose forefathers victimized our ancestors and whose descendants continue to perpetuate injustice (intentionally or with colorblind ideology) through systemic inequalities in the political, judicial, and educational realms to name a few.
